The Mark for Events Is Now LEVEL. Here's What the Rebrand Means Next Door.

If you knew 9320 W Pico Blvd as The Mark for Events, you are in the right place. LEVEL describes it this way: “What was once the Mark for Events has been transformed into LEVEL — a venue reimagined for today's most memorable celebrations.”

New name, new finishes, new marketing. The building still backs onto the same alley, and the same apartment buildings are still on the other side of it.

Reimagined for luxury

LEVEL positions itself as “the new standard for luxury events on Pico Blvd.” Its listings put the minimum spend at $6,000. It sells four spaces across 16,500 square feet, including an outdoor area it calls the Garden, “created for open air celebrations,” for up to 340 guests.

Luxury is a fine thing to sell. The trouble is what it has come to mean in practice for the block: DJs, live singers and amplified music outdoors, in the evening, on a regular basis.

Reimagined for whom?

A rebrand is a chance to reset relationships. LEVEL could have introduced itself to the neighbors, posted a phone number, and decided that amplified music belongs indoors. Instead, a neighbor who spoke to the organizer during an event was brushed off, and the police have been called repeatedly.

The name on the sign changed. The people behind the building did not. We are still here, and we are not going anywhere.

What we are asking

No DJs, live singers or amplified music on the patio after 9 PM, and a manager's number that is answered during every event. Do that, and we have said publicly that this website comes down. Until then, anyone searching for The Mark for Events or LEVEL will find the neighbors' side of the story right here.

Let’s bring LEVEL down.(The volume.)
